Funding

You do not need a referral to access Speech Pathology. However, there are some funding support options available via Medicare, the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), and some Private Health Insurers. You will need to speak with your doctor to check your child’s eligibility for these supports, or with the funding provider directly.

Private

We are able to support families who are paying privately. Many private health insurers also offer rebates on Speech Pathology services. You can claim-back your rebate through your insurer using the invoice that you will receive after your child’s session. Please check with your private health insurer about what you are eligible for.

NDIS

We are able to support children who have National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) funding and are self-managed or plan-managed only. Unfortunately at this time we cannot see children who are NDIA managed.

If you would like more information about how to access the NDIS, please get in touch or contact your Local Area Coordinator. You can find out more here:  https://www.ndis.gov.au/contact/locations

Medicare

We are able to support children who have been given a ‘Chronic Disease Management Plan’ (CDM) from their doctor. This plan is designed for people who have a chronic condition that lasts for at least six months and requires support from two or more specialists. This includes communication difficulties and disorders. A CDM plan can provide a rebate on up to five sessions each calendar year. Please note that there will be a gap, and Medicare and private health insurance cannot be used on the same session (only one or the other). Please contact your GP for more information, or visit: https://www1.health.gov.au/internet/main/publishing.nsf/Content/mbsprimarycare-chronicdisease-pdf-infosheet
